Safety Button - Press the safety button in the front and the cover pops off. The Laser Sight and LED Flashlight turn on signaling that you are ready to fire. That deterrence factor can be enough to scare off an attacker, because if they know anything, they know they do not want to be "TAZED". Press the trigger button, and they will go down completely immobilized giving you the time to either run for safety or call 911. Replacement batteries can be purchased in any store where CR123 Batteries are sold.
