When the C model was first introduced the law enforcement X26 was formally referred to as the X26E with the "E" referring to enforcement.

The "C" in TASER X26C signifies "Consumer" or "Civilian". It allows you to squeeze the trigger three times for a 30 second discharge instead of the 5 second discharge of the X26 also known as the X26E. The "E" signifies Law "Enforcement". Law enforcement needs only 5 seconds to subdue and restrain the subject. The 30 second discharge of the civilian version allows you to leave the weapon behind while it continues to incapacitate the subject, providing plenty of time to flee to safety and escape the scene of the incident.
Identical to the law enforcement X26 in every other way, the law enforcement X26 AKA X26E will also continue to incapacitate the subject indefinately beyond 5 seconds when the trigger is held continuously. This provides an unlimited amount of time for assistance to arrive. It is legal for civilians to own and operate the X26 law enforcement model. Therefore the TASER X26 will be substituted for the X26C whenever necessary to fulfill an order along with comparable equipment and materials unless "No Substitutions" is clearly indicated in the Special Instructions on the order at the time of order.
